How is Pilates different from yoga?

Pilates shares some similarity to yoga in that they both practice deliberate movements. However, one difference between to the two systems is in the breathing. In yoga, people breathe from the belly. This is also known as diaphragmatic breathing and it is relaxing. In Pilates, we breathe deeply from the sides and back. This helps strengthen your deep abs. Another difference between yoga and Pilates is that in Pilates we don’t do any sustained poses. All of our motions are fluid and continuous exercise.
